CLEAN AIR TAMPA BAY
CLEAN AIR TAMPA BAY
A Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council Initiative supporting stakeholders with their plans to reduce air pollutants present in the Tampa-St. Petersburg- Clearwater Metropolitan Statitical Area's (MSA) atmosphere.
The Clean Air Tampa Bay Program was created to advance a unified, science-based approach to climate mitigation and resilience across Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas Counties. Led by the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, this plan brings together local governments, agencies, non-government organizations, and community-based organizations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prepare for climate impacts to our region.
Engagement efforts are focused on the general public, as well as key technical, civic, and vulnerable population audiences. Feedback from these activities was used to refine the PCAP and CCAP reduction measures and transition targets. Engagement with the community is expected to continue going forward as TBRPC prepares the Status Report, which is due in 2027.
Air pollutants directly and indirectly affect vulnerable populations, including children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing conditions, and ecosystems such as lakes and streams. The Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) aims to align policies to reduce air pollutants, providing public health benefits for all residents.
